At Forest-of-Teesdale Primary School we pride ourselves in delivering a varied and exciting PE curriculum for at least 2 hours per week. All of the children have a ten week block of swimming every year, where we transport the children down to Teesdale Leisure Centre and they are taught in two groups with experienced swimming coaches. We also have sports coaches who support our PE Teacher at different points throughout the year as and when required.
In terms of competitions and tournaments, although we are a very small school, we enjoy taking part in games and sporting competitions and we are involved in the Teesdale and Weardale Cluster sports events. More recently, we have been asked to take part in a ‘small schools cluster’ sports, which is organised and delivered by the staff at Samuel Kings School at Alston.
Each year the children are given the opportunity to develop their skills further by attending an outward bound residential, encouraging teambuilding and the chance to experience different physical activities.
