Welcome to our School Council
The school council plays a very important role across our cluster of 3 small schools. Our school council is a group of 2 pupils from each of the three schools, who are elected by the children, to represent the views of all the children and who work hard to improve our schools. Everyone benefits because all pupils can make suggestions about how to make school better or more fun and we try to implement them during the school year. Our school council members act as a link between the children, the teachers and governors of our schools. As members of the School Council, they have a special role in making sure that the children in our schools have a voice and opportunities to contribute their ideas to help our schools to grow.
School Council 2019-2020
Our school council members from Forest of Teesdale this year are Hannah Year 5 and Katie Year 2. Our school council leader this year is Mrs Eyers, who teaches at St John’s Chapel Primary School.
Meetings
Meetings take place regularly on Thursdays when we are all at St John’s Chapel. The children talk about how to improve learning within school, the school environment, organise and discuss activities and general issues the children would like to raise. The children report back to the school so all the children in school have a say in what is discussed and decided. A copy of the minutes of the meeting will be emailed to all staff and the Head teacher, for comments and responses on the children’s ideas, suggestions and questions. These will then be displayed on the school council notice board and school website for all to access.
